Supreme Court Rules in Favor of ICE Profiling

On September 8th 2025, the supreme court ruled to grant an emergency request from the Trump Administration to temporarily pause the order of an LA Judge in a 6 - 3 ruling. The LA judges order served to stop ICE roving patrols (on foot patrols) from stopping californians and questioning them based on how they look, what language they speak, what work they do or where they are at that moment.

In essence, this ruling permits ICE agents in california to racially profile citizens. The six judges in favor:

Are all conservative, and all but one (Chief Justice Clarence Thomas, who was apointed by George H.W Bush) were appointed by Donald Trump.

Justice Kavanaugh argued that based on current circumstances and statistics (illegal Immigration rates, job types, etc), these factors are valid justifications for roving patrols to stop and interrogate random citizens, also adding that ethnicity alone isnt relevant enough but may be relevant alongside others.

In essence, this allows for ICE agents to harass californians due to what their ethnicity is, which is incredibly concerning as Latinos represent a whopping 39.4% of the california population (based on the 2020 us census) and the fact that ICE has repeatedly illegaly detained and deported innocent citizens, aswell as recurring to illegal means to do so.

ICE is very rapidly gaining more and more power, to the point where they have essentially become Donald Trump's private police force to enforce whatever policies he wants to enforce, especially due to his majority in the US Supreme Court.
